Daily Rewind January 15 - Everywhere they are stealing signs
January 15 , 2020, the sign-stealing scandal taking over Major League Baseball has sparked plenty of reactions from former and current players, coaches, and other prominent sports figures. One of those former players is ex-Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, who doesn't shy away from sharing his opinions on social media. Schilling took to Twitter to share his take on the 2017 Houston Astros and 2018 Boston Red Sox's involvement in the scandal. Schilling: "I will say this about the recent cheating revelations in MLB. I have zero doubts both teams won their respective World Series because of this. Not saying they wouldn't of without it, but it absolutely helped. That system would have made it easy for me to face it in October. Peroid.

The 1951 New York Giants were the first well-known cheaters, stealing signs and using Morse code to wire them to the bench. They came back from 14 down to tie the Brooklyn Dodgers, leading to a three-game series that ended with the shot heard around the world, famously called by Russ Hodges. The link below to the game is.

January 15, 1943 — Mike Marshall is born in Adrian, MI. He pitches in only four games as an Astro in 1970 before he is sent to Montreal. As a Dodger in 1974, Marshall wins the Cy Young Award by winning 15 and saving 21 while appearing in a remarkable 106 games in relief. Birthday boy born on January 15, 1949 . . . An excellent fielder with a surprisingly powerful bat, Bobby Grich was one of the AL’s best all-around second basemen for over 15 seasons with the Orioles and Angels, earning All-Star recognition six times. The 6’2″ 180-lb Grich was big for a middle infielder, but as a converted minor league shortstop, he had excellent range and was known as a fantastic pivot-man, winning four Gold Gloves. He generated considerable power with a strong-wristed righthanded batting stroke clubbing 224 long balls for his career.

January 15 1958 – The New York Yankees announce that 140 games will be televised this season. The deal is worth over one million dollars. Six days later, the Philadelphia Phillies agree to televise 78 games into the New York City area, which is without National League baseball for the first time since the league’s inception in 1876. January 15, 1981, former St. Louis Cardinals ace Bob Gibson is elected to the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. In 17 seasons with the Cardinals, Gibson won 251 games, compiled a 2.91 era, and earned two World Championship rings.
