About us

Everyone loves a Great Story!

My Dad was a wonderful storyteller himself, and because of that, I can relate to Ray Kinella's story about the bedtime stories his Dad told him about Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Shoeless Joe Jackson. For me, it was Warren Spahn, Jackie Robinson, Eddie Mathews, and the Boston Braves—his first game at Braves Field with his grandmother and his involvement in a knothole gang.

Referencing Field of Dreams again, James Earl Jones said it best: "The one constant through all these years in America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers, erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again, but baseball has marked time." Maybe I am biased, but above all other sports, baseball is a true connection to our pasts, our fathers, grandfathers, and future fans, and the stories are endless.

After he passed away, there was a big empty hole he left behind. I lost my baseball buddy to talk to about players, management, umpire calls, and have those endless conversations about who was better, Mays or Ruth. Spahn or Grove. Berra or Bench.

My solution was to start a baseball website, which has had many transitions over the years. I have always loved the random stories about the players, the odd things they accomplished, rare feats, and frankly, wacky events. Every day, I learn something new about our featured story of the day. I hear something I have never heard before on a broadcast, or because we have mainly radio broadcasts, I hear an event in a truly unique way.

This Newsletter is about sharing these stories, our research, and the audio collection we have built (which, again, started with my Dad when he was in assisted living).

We do hope you subscribe, enjoy the Newsletter, and please, feel free to reach out any time. I love to talk baseball with folks.
